----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our website was launched on 4th October 2008 and we are constantly updating the format and content.
Look at the 'News' page for details of members meetings and copies of The Ratepayer Newsletter and Election Material. See the 'Photo News' page for photo stories of our activities. See 'Links' to The Taxpayers Alliance where we are affiliate members and our Election Campaign Partners SAMRA (Solihull and Meriden Residents Association) and Neill Watts Independent Shirley East Ward along with useful organisations and Council Services. We recommend The Silhillian for an inside track on local news.
The Ratepayers Team.
Solihull Ratepayers Association was founded in 1974 in response to a 93% increase in council rates following local government reorganisation at that time. The association played a major role in a national protest campaign, leading to central government funding a substantial rebate to those councils hardest hit, including Solihull.
Over the years the association has continued to act on behalf of the Solihull Community as an independant watchdog on the actions taken by the Solihull Council and other bodies who levy tax or other charges on the citizens of this borough.

Bluebells flower perhaps for the last time in the ancient Shirley 'Ring of Oaks' which are to be felled to make way for ASDA.
Our Objects are:
1. To promote the interest of our members and that of the Ratepayers (Council Tax Payers) of Solihull.
2. To ensure that services and amenities are improved throughout the area subject to the cost of the Metropolitan District Council Tax being set at an acceptable level in line with inflation.
3. To infuence the policy and financial decisions of the local council for the good of the Tax Payers as a whole and organise formal and active opposition to unacceptable changes in the enviroment and development of Solihull or unreasonable increases in expenditure, as expressed through Council Tax.
4. To promote the traditional Values, Culture, Ethos and use of the English language in Solihull.
The Solihull Ratepayers Association shall achieve its objects by democratic means and will reflect the will of the residents of Solihull at all times.
The Solihull Ratepayers Association is funded soley by Membership Subscription and Donations. Current minimum subscription is just £2.00 per annum.
Membership is open to all residents of Solihull or individuals owning property within the Borough.
